On Thursday, May 19, 2016, the Thomas students will be participating in our annual school-wide program celebrating music, singing, and spring. Our program takes shape from both American and English folk traditions. In England, May Day was celebrated with festivals, flowers, dancing, music, and of course, the weaving of the May Pole. In America, the play party is one of the most important contributions to our folk music heritage.
To celebrate our heritage, we will be having a “May Day Celebration.” During this celebration, each grade will present two singing games or dances from America and other countries around the world to other students and parents and the program will culminate with the fifth graders weaving the May Pole.
The following classes will perform at 10:15 a.m. in the gym: all morning kindergarten classes, Kucinic, Schmitt, Bender, Bowman, Breading, Reck, Crimmel, Deschler, Almassy, Allen, Boblenz, Mast, and Tucker.
The following classes will perform at 2:00 p.m. in the gym: all afternoon kindergarten classes, Bonar, Russell, Turnow, McCreary, Power, Cutteridge, Weingard, Barrington, Campanale, Andrews, and Howard.
